Lambrini Girls — aka the duo of Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar) and Lilly Macieira (bass) — have spent the last few years ripping up stages with their cheeky punk, and they’ve thrown that energy into their debut album, Who Let the Dogs Out, which is out today.
Recorded with Gilla Band’s Daniel Fox and mixed by Seth Manchester (Mdou Moctar, Model/Actriz), the LP was written in two brief blasts. During the first session, they fell into a routine of waking up, exercising, and writing until 7 p.m. The second stage was far messier, including an exorbitant amount of alcohol (specifically, the album bio notes 48 beers, a bottle of vodka, six bottles of wine, two bottles of Lambrini, rum, and tequila). “You know how Fleetwood Mac almost dedicated Rumours to their cocaine dealer? I think we should dedicate this album to all the booze we bought at Tesco,” the band say.

Throughout 11 tracks, the duo have ridiculous fun while losing none of the intensity. “Big Dick Energy” targets toxic masculinity, “Filthy Rich Nepo Baby” lambasts upper-class artists who “smash up 5-grand guitars,” and “Cuntology 101” celebrates prioritizing your own well-being. “Loving yourself is the biggest act of defiance in a world that perpetually tells you there is something wrong with you,” they say.
Later today, Lambrini Girls will kick off a gigantic tour in the U.K. before traveling overseas to North America for a bunch of dates. The run culminates with back-to-back performances at Reading and Leeds in late August. Grab tickets here.
