It’s been a couple of years since Blondshell, aka Sabrina Teitelbaum, broke out with her self-titled album. Today, she’s announced her second LP, If You Asked for a Picture, which arrives May 2 via Partisan.
Like her debut, she teamed up with producer Yves Rothman, drawing inspiration from Mary Oliver’s 1986 poem “Dogfish,” Queens of the Stone Age’s Rated R, and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Californication. “It’s empowering for me to use sonic references that feel reserved for men,” Teitelbaum says of the latter two albums. “The first record feels really black-and-white to me. This record has more questions.”

She also shared the new single “T&A” — a title borrowed from “Little T&A” off the Rolling Stones’ Tattoo You — and a music video directed by Hannah Bon, where three men are paired with rescue dogs to reveal their similarities.
“It feels impossible to think of anything other than the fires in Los Angeles right now,” Teitelbaum says. “The city I’ve lived in for 10 years is burning, and the scale of the loss is incomprehensible. In a way, it feels dumb to talk about music, but I also think the whole point of art is for it to exist in the context of pain as a small emotional respite… even if just for one moment. Please stay safe. Thank you for letting me share this with you. Twelve songs about searching for love, family, and friendship in many right and wrong places.” She listed a few resources, including Mutual Aid LA, a dog fostering signup sheet, and the LA Fire Department fundraiser.
