Misfits’ peculiar sound got them lumped in with the burgeoning American hardcore scene in the early Eighties, and Earth A.D. sounds like the band taking in their surroundings. Unlike the campy catchiness of tunes like “Last Caress” and “Hybrid Moments,” Misfits’ final album with OG singer-songwriter Glenn Danzig is packed with fast, raging tunes where the so-called Evil Elvis sounds less like the King and more like a demon. Hence why Cradle of Filth and Metallica each found choice cuts to cover.
