Head to the AP Shop to grab vinyl of Yellowcard’s Better Days.
Yellowcard have released their new album, Better Days, the first in almost a decade. The record, out today via Better Noise Music, was produced by blink-182’s Travis Barker, who also plays drums on every track.
Fueled by a renewed love for their craft, Yellowcard approached Better Days with the mindset that it must be the pinnacle of their career. “I started the record as one version of myself and came out the other side changed,” frontman Ryan Key explained during their June cover story. “I went in knowing I needed help. I came out of it writing songs like I was 19 again.”
It’s a far cry from how the band looked a few years ago — broken up and at peace with never making music again. However, following a performance at Riot Fest in 2022 and a global tour in support of the 20th anniversary of the band’s hit album, Ocean Avenue, the band decided to reunite and make music together again. The result is Better Days, an honest exploration of perspective and purpose.

“Sometimes the world has a wild way of putting things into place,” Barker says of working on Better Days. “Neither of us had planned on working together, but once we got in the studio, the magic was undeniable. I had just finished the blink album and was excited to dive into producing another record front to back. Working with Yellowcard was a pleasure, and seeing them land their first No. 1 is incredible.”
Featured on the album is “You Broke Me Too,” a collaboration with Avril Lavigne. “My friend Travis Barker called me up to say he was producing the new Yellowcard album, and I really liked what I heard,” Lavigne says of the track. “When he played me ‘You Broke Me Too,’ I liked how it can be an anthem people can relate to when finding hope after a relationship.” To accompany the song, Yellowcard released a lyric video for the track, featuring nostalgic imagery from high school and adolescence.
