Taraneh has released her new album, Unobsession. True to her name, which means “melody” or “song” in Farsi, Taraneh’s gritty, multigenre approach to Unobsession wraps every track together in a fusion of nü metal, dream pop, punk, and grunge to forge a raw and visceral collection of songs.
As the follow-up to 2024’s New Age Prayer, Unobsession sees Taraneh building on the momentum and energy of her previous work. “I think my friends and I are really creating something new together,” Taraneh explains in her AP interview. “It feels like in some ways all eyes are on New York right now, and I think that’s for good reason — there’s something really special happening in NYC right now. I can feel it in the air, and I’m really grateful to be part of it. I’m in a community with a lot of people I not only love but also admire, and that’s a real privilege.”
