It’s only been a couple of years since the Armed released Perfect Saviors, their first album of complete honesty. However, the heavy Detroit collective are already back with their next record, The Future Is Here and Everything Needs to Be Destroyed, out Aug. 1 via Sargent House.
“It’s music for a statistically wealthy population that somehow can’t afford food or medicine — endlessly scrolling past vacation photos, gym selfies, and images of child amputees in the same feed,” vocalist Tony Wolski says. “It reflects the dissociation required just to exist in that reality.”

Ahead of its release, they’ve unleashed the brutal opening track “Well Made Play” — a reference to 19th-century theater that couches a bleak present. “While we chase distractions and small comforts, we’re pushed into endless competition with each other — often while those with real power take freely, right in front of us,” Wolski adds. That sentiment comes alive, vividly, throughout the Christopher Gruse-directed video, where two men pummel each other, fighting to win a jet ski, as the band play in the background.
The Armed will also go on a short headlining tour with Prostitute (who play on the album’s “Broken Mirror”), which begins in August and culminates with a hometown show at Detroit’s El Club in December. See those dates, plus the video for “Well Made Play” and tracklist, below.
