In February, Superheaven announced their self-titled comeback album, their first in a decade, out April 18 via Blue Grape Music (home to Spiritual Cramp, Code Orange, and DoFlame). Recorded and engineered by members Jake Clarke and Zack Robbins, the band reconnected with producer Will Yip, who oversaw the towering, fuzzed-out sound of their previous two records.
“We just want to write good songs,” Taylor Madison urges. “It seems like a lost art, but we treasure it. If you listen to this, I hope you think, ‘Damn, they still got it.’” You can hear that in their latest song, “Stare At The Void,” where the band’s simmering grungegaze moves alongside frank introspection. It comes with a claymation video directed by Hayden Hall.

“The sound depends on the four of us,” Clarke adds. “For Superheaven to come through, we need everyone’s personality in the pot. When we all get in a room, it’s truly special. Individually, we add our own spin to it, but we collectively want the same thing. That’s the motif. I feel intertwined with the other guys. This is a huge part of our lives.”
Superheaven will go on a headlining spring tour, including support from their younger peers Glare, Prize Horse, and SPY. The run kicks off at LDB Fest in Louisville in April and continues throughout May and June. They wrap with back-to-back performances at Outbreak Fest in the U.K. and will play Louder Than Life in September.
