Paris Texas just began their huge stadium tour with Tyler, the Creator and Lil Yatchy. Before they left for the road, the duo recorded a surprise EP, They Left Me With The Sword, which dropped last week, and now they’ve released its other half, They Left Me With A Gun.
Fusing elements of punk, noise, and hip-hop, Paris Texas are a deliberate duo who experienced a surreal comeup in the past few years. Their sound is singular, complex, and alive, fueled by the deep friendship between Felix and Louie Pastel. “If I ever felt like this project was a detriment to our friendship, I’d probably quit,” Pastel told Hypebeast in 2024. True to form, the back-to-back projects follow their unpredictable ethos. They Left Me With The Sword follows a fluid path, whereas They Left Me With A Gun adopts rowdy experimentalism that shares more in common with “PANIC!!!” or “Lana Del Rey” from their 2023 debut LP MID-AIR. Both projects, however, are described as “spiritual sequels” to their 2021 EP red hand akimbo.
