Jayden Nicole Binnix was only 18 when they released their 2024 debut album, Forest (Monsters Live In The Trees), as Black Polish — a collection of restless introspection and surreal wordplay that illuminated their fear of getting lost in the woods, unable to find a way through. “This album explores the different stages and places mental health can take you once you spiral,” they explained at the time, pulling threads from Alex G and Fleetwood Mac.
Their latest single, and first since that project, “Be With You,” portrays a different kind of spiral — yearning for someone who’s damning for your own well-being. However, Black Polish doesn’t turn away from the darkness, detailing their denial, and then the dizzying epiphany of being used, with elevated confidence and big heart. “This one-night stand has led to war,” they say, but for all the messiness, there’s an exhilarating bounce that makes you want to move.

Of the song’s meaning, Black Polish tells us, “This is how obsession starts: obvious denial. How dare you assume I crave a relationship? It’s not so much that I want to be with you — I just need you to love me.”
Its video, premiering below, looks sprung from the early 2000s, featuring Black Polish baring their situation in an empty pool while skaters dart in the background. By the end, a feeling of hope and community permeates the space as the crowd moshes around them. “Being in the pool with all the skaters while hearing the crowd sing along was how I knew this was going to be special,” they continue. “I was fighting back some manly tears the entire shoot. Seriously, it couldn’t have been more perfect.”
