wishy planet popstar

Earlier this year, indie five-piece Wishy released their gleaming, ’90s-indebted debut album, Triple Seven, and told AP about some of their favorite cover songs. Before heading out on a lengthy tour that lasts until the end of the year, they shared their new single “Planet Popstar” — a sublimely fuzzy outtake from the LP that, like their other songs, is guided by glowing melody.

“This song is about the feeling of longing for someone or something which, by all accounts, seems entirely out of reach,” guitarist/vocalist Kevin Krauter says. “They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. We recorded this song during the Triple Seven sessions at the end of last year, but the song ultimately didn’t make it onto the album.”
