Truck Violence have announced their new album, The weathervane is my body, out June 26 via their new label, The Flenser.
The weathervane is my body, Truck Violence’s second album, builds on the same folky hardcore sound of their debut. The LP is DIY from start to end, with the writing, recording, mixing, and visual direction all handled internally. The album art features a single figure perched atop a small, hand-built Quebec-style house while looking at an overwhelming urban backdrop, which ultimately represents the music’s essence — a body absorbing everything the world throws at it.

Lead single “New Jesus” is a political and cultural critique of the growing shift toward authoritarian thinking, particularly in the U.S. and the media, following the events of the 2020 election and Jan. 6.
“‘New Jesus’ is a rant about the blatant fascistic slide occurring both to the south of our border and on screen,” vocalist Karsyn Henderson says. “It is loosely about the ABC — Trump settlement and the post-Jan. 6 election fraud cases. The lack of any broader moral compulsions beyond centralizing power on the political right has led to a culture of post-truth, where there is no reward in accuracy unless it leads to an augmenting of one’s political capital, which it rarely does.”
