Sofia Isella has released her new single, “Above the Neck,” after teasing it during recent live performances. Written and produced by Isella with additional production by Mr Hudson, the track fuses her dark storytelling with spoken word as she critiques the sexualization of young women in current culture and how they can’t live up to society’s expectations.
The track’s artwork features a surrealist horror drawing with a distorted human being pulled apart, a nod to the exploitation that Isella references in the song. “Above the Neck” follows the industrial-infused slowburner “Out in the Garden,” a track that confronts blind followers.

Isella recently wrapped the North American leg of her You’ll Understand More, Dick tour and is currently playing shows across Australia. Early next year, she’ll join Florence and the Machine as support and play in Europe and the U.K. on the Her Desire, The Nemesis tour.
