Slipknot just announced the 25th anniversary edition of their 1999 self-titled debut — a deluxe reissue celebrating the album that launched them into the stratosphere, bringing extreme music to the mainstream. Today, the nü-metal pioneers have shared their sludgy “Prosthetics” demo, which was recorded before they entered Indigo Ranch with producer Ross Robinson. The song was refined in the studio before appearing on the back half of the LP.
“[The fans] could tell it was real. They could tell it came from a place that understood what it was like to be marginalized,” Corey Taylor told us last summer, reflecting on the songs that made them heroes to a generation of outsiders. “We were so fucking hungry we would have eaten through the backs of people’s heads.”

Arriving Sept. 5 via Roadrunner Records, the box set includes new artwork and never-before-seen photos pulled from the vault. There are 59 total songs, including Slipknot’s famed Indigo Ranch demos, mixes, live cuts, and other rarities spread across six LPs with collector’s photo cards.
The reissue follows Slipknot’s huge Here Comes The Pain tour, which largely comprised their 1999 material and included a hometown show in Des Moines at their own Knotfest Iowa. During the run, they played songs they hadn’t touched in years, including “No Life,” “Me Inside,” and “Only One.”
