Rising Los Angeles four-piece Rocket have announced they’ve signed to Transgressive Records/Canvasback, who will release an expanded edition of their 2023 debut EP, Versions of You. It’s due out on April 18, and they’ve shared one of the new tracks that will appear on it, the grunge-y “Take Your Aim.” Vocalist and bassist Alithea Tuttle says it’s about “the indignant response to feeling misunderstood or taken advantage of by someone but not being able to confront them about it. It’s about a friendship that was built upon them taking more than they give and watching the friendship grow sour as time goes on. The verses illustrate the nature of the relationship; what that person says is what goes and no one can change their mind. The choruses fall back into the repetitiveness of overthinking; if this is all my fault like you say it is then take your aim.”

Rocket will celebrate their new single, and raise money for Los Angeles wildfire relief, and a benefit show happening this Saturday (Feb. 8) at Zebulon. It’s with Draag, RAM, and a DJ set from Silversun Pickups, and proceeds go to California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and Pasadena Community Job Center. “Being able to give back to the community that raised us is such an incredible feeling,” Alithea told AP about the show. “We wouldn’t be the band we are today without LA.” Tickets are on sale now.
