Former founding member and bassist of the metalcore act Oh, Sleeper, Lucas Starr, has died at the age of 34.
According to a report from Metal Injection, the late musician died in the early hours of Dec. 7, a few months after he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.
Starr played on the band’s first two albums, 2007’s When I Am God and 2009’s Son Of The Morning, before he decided to leave the band in 2011.
A celebration service of Starr’s life will take place at City On A Hill Church in Fort Worth, Texas, and the service will be held this Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. local time.
A few months before his passing, Starr played a show on Oct. 19, where he shared the stage with Oh, Sleeper, Terminal and Honey Lotus. The show was a benefit for Starr, where all proceeds went to help him with his battle with cancer.
Following the show, Starr shared a photo from the show with the caption:

Vocalist and guitarist of Oh, Sleeper, Shane Blay, took to Instagram to post a tribute to the late bassist, where he stated:
“I snapped this photo the first time our music took us overseas… sorry it’s shit.. you were always better at photos than me. At a loss for words right now, stage left will never be the same.”
Oh, Sleeper hasn’t released a new album since their 2011 release, Children of Fire, but it was reported back in 2016 that the group was working on a new album titled Bloodied//Unbowed, which was revealed after they posted a lyric video for a song called “Oxygen.”
