It’s been a couple of years since Nova Twins, the U.K. duo of Amy Love and Georgia South, released their second album, Supernova. Since then, they’ve opened for Limp Bizkit, been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, and played Glastonbury, but they’ve made a thunderous return with the new single “Monsters.”
Recorded with Rich Costey, their latest is a proper comeback, featuring the pair getting frank about their mental health over enormous riffs. “Growing up, we often look outward, absorbing what life throws at us,” the band say. “Over time, the good and bad experiences start to settle. Before learning to navigate these feelings, you may face self-loathing, anxiety, and a fear of who you’ve become. Confronting these emotions, breathing through them, and opening up to someone can help. Many people struggle with mental health, and this song aims to show vulnerability and let our audience know they’re not alone.”

“Monsters” arrived yesterday with a performance video directed by longtime collaborator Harry Lindley, and it’s definitely the start of something bigger, as the band confirmed that their third album is finished. Nova Twins told DIY Magazine that they wrote the LP throughout the winter and recorded the songs in Vermont with Costey in between shows with Foo Fighters.
