“The intention was to make something that was classic, something timeless,” My Chemical Romance guitarist Ray Toro told us in 2006, unraveling the making of The Black Parade. “Something that, 20 or 30 years from now, parents could play for their kids and say, ‘This is what I was listening to when I was your age. During their Long Live The Black Parade tour kickoff in Seattle, that sentiment held painstakingly true as the band traveled back to that era, playing through their beloved concept album from front to back. All the while, they donned updated versions of their Sgt. Pepper-inspired marching band outfits, tapped Kayleigh Goldsworthy for violin duties (“Cancer,” “Mama”), and indulged in theatrical skits, including Gerard Way getting slapped and holding a mock election. Afterward, fans were treated to a potent setlist on the B-Stage that featured favorites from the rest of their catalog, ending on a euphoric high with “Helena.”⁠

The sold-out tour travels across the U.S. for the next couple of months, ending in Tampa on Sept. 13. Afterward, the band will head to South America and Asia throughout 2026. The anniversary run follows their triumphant reunion tour throughout 2022 and 2023, where Gerard wore a series of viral looks (inspired by Bela Lugosi’s Dracula, Joan of Arc, Princess Diana, etc.), designed in collaboration with Marina Toybina. “Everything was very specific and strategic, which I enjoyed — down to the right socks with each outfit, the right color, fabrics, and medallions for Dracula,” she told AP.
