momma i want you fever video

Following 2022’s acclaimed Household Name, Momma will return with their next album, Welcome to My Blue Sky, on April 4 via Polyvinyl.

Produced by bassist Aron Kobayashi Ritch, Welcome to My Blue Sky retraces a turbulent summer on tour in 2022. Co-founders Allegra Weingarten and Etta Friedman call it a time of “parallel chaos” and sketched out most of the songs together on acoustic guitar. “In a way, it felt like we flipped our entire lives upside down,” Friedman explains. “We needed to lean on each other to cope with everything we were going through, and writing songs together was a big part of working through those feelings and finally putting them to rest.” Their latest single, “I Want You (Fever),” matches that energy, all swirling fuzz and lust, and it comes with a video directed by Jaxon Whittington.

“‘I Want You (Fever)’ is a song we wrote about wanting to be with someone who has a girlfriend, or someone who isn’t over their ex,” the band say. “It’s pining after someone, but there’s also some confidence knowing that that person wants to be with you. The second we wrote that song we felt like we were entering a new era — we scrapped everything we had written for the album up to that point because it felt so fresh and so exciting.”

Momma will play the new tracks on a huge headline spring tour across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. They’ll also appear at a handful of festivals, including Primavera Sound, Kilby Block Party, and Outbreak.
