As Momma prepare to release their fourth album, Welcome to My Blue Sky, in April, they’ve just shared another preview called “Bottle Blonde.”
The new single comes with a video directed by the band, which entwines behind-the-scenes footage between the summer of 2022 and November 2024 when they were touring Household Name. Incorporating hypnotic breakbeats into their ’90s-indebted alt-rock, “Bottle Blonde” peers into the intimate friendship between co-founders Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten — and is an ode to their formerly bleached hair.

“We wrote this song as a letter to our past selves, when we were 23 and 24, stumbling through an extremely grueling tour that ended up taking a huge toll on our hearts and minds,” Friedman and Weingarten say. “We both had bleached hair and were in the midst of making huge decisions that would change our lives and also our perceptions of ourselves. The song started out as an affirmation to our younger selves, that everything would be OK if you just follow your heart, but now looking back on it, the lyrics could also be read as us talking to each other.”
