María Zardoya has released her new album, Melt, via Atlantic Records, marking the first solo project under her Not For Radio moniker. Zardoya, who’s the lead singer for the Marías, recorded Melt earlier this year in upstate New York at Flying Cloud Recordings at a time when she felt disconnected from the outside world.
“It’s a culmination of years in the making, drawn from my own experiences, the experiences of my friends and family, fleeting moments in nature, and reflections and questions from my inner world,” Zaryodya explains on her Instagram story. “My intent in writing music is to help me process the complexities of what it means to live, to love, and to lose. And my intent in releasing it is to help you do the same.”

When creating the record, Zardoya was determined to push her creativity, working closely with collaborators Sam Evian and Luca Buccellati on Melt to create a collection of intimate, psychedelic ballads that explore the erosion of love. As part of the release, Zardoya curated a gallery space and merch pop-up in Los Angeles, where fans could purchase moss-filled vinyl and view an original portrait of María by painter Moses Harborg.
