Stephen Colbert calls himself a “Green Bean,” which he explains means that he's one of Green Day's biggest fans. He recently caught up with the band on The Late Show, and although he wanted them to play his favorite song, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” they said he’d have to pay for it.
So he took matters into his own hands and created an “affordable” version that you have to hear to believe. Give it a listen below!

In this new segment he dubbed “Lyrics We Can Afford to Songs We Love,” he had Green Day’s Billie Joe strum “Good Riddance” on guitar, while they replaced the lyrics with lines from Stephen Foster's “Camptown Races,” which happens to be part of the public domain. (Meaning that it's free!)
It’s one of the most unusual, yet still one of the best, dubs we’ve heard in a long while.
