Today, Dark Horse Comics announce the return of The Umbrella Academy, with a fourth volume: The Umbrella Academy: Plan B. Co-authored by My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, the new and twisted tale picks up directly after the events of Hotel Oblivion, and will arrive in June 2025. “I am just as excited for Plan B as I was when we went on this trip together with Apocalypse Suite,” says Way, making a promise fans will want to hear. AP has teamed up with Dark Horse to offer a sneak peek of the comic’s first few pages.
This volume details the Umbrella Academy’s most menacing challenge yet – their other brothers and sisters, The Sparrows. Their connection to Sir Reginald Hargreeves and Mom is different… No one knows how to hurt each other more than family. This tyrannical, barbaric brood have a focused goal — control and submission — and won’t blink twice at using violence to obtain it. This era of Umbrella Academy sees Bá taking things to another level — Way wields his trademark dark humor and emo-tinged theatricality, while Bá’s bold illustrations bring them to life, rife with detail… And maybe a few easter eggs to fans to find?

“This is Umbrella Academy at its finest,” says Bá. Way adds, “Telling this story with Gabriel would become, as it is today, such a special part of my life. This is not only because we would evolve as artists— but because we had the opportunity to grow up over a pretty crazy adventure together…”
Meet the rest of the family on June 11, 2025 when The Umbrella Academy: Plan B #1 (of 6) arrives in comic shops. It is now for preorder from your local comic shop. Issue #1 will feature six variant covers illustrated by a star-studded group of artists including Fabio Moon, Claire Roe, Mike del Mundo, Duncan Fegredo, David Aja, and Jill Thompson.
