This is Tour Diary, where artists give us a behind-the-scenes look at life on the road. Earlier this year, Blondshell (aka Sabrina Teitelbaum) returned with her sophomore album, If You Asked for a Picture, which amplified the blunt, ’90s-inspired alt-rock of her self-titled debut while being unafraid to lean pop. “It’s empowering for me to use sonic references that feel reserved for men,” Teitelbaum said upon its announcement, pulling influence from Queens of the Stone Age’s Rated R and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Californication. “The first record feels really black-and-white to me. This record has more questions.” Teitelbaum recently brought those songs on the road, tapping rising Birmingham singer/guitarist Jahnah Camille for a handful of the shows. Before she heads overseas next month, Teitelbaum took us through some of the tour’s most intimate moments, from fans asking her to design their tattoos to gorgeous mountain views.
