AFI have released their new album Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… For their 12th full-length, the band set out to make an album with a singular mood, which would inevitably become the catalyst to Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…. The record embodies the struggle to reconcile oneself within modern existence and laments the loss of sanctuary, draped in dark, grandiose new wave.
“When I think about this record, this is a punk record,” frontman Davey Havok explained during their August cover story, reflecting on how the East Bay still shows up in their music. “Who knows what that word even means now? But to me, this is a more punk-sounding record than a lot of the records in the most recent past.”

The release of Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… follows the band’s recent singles, “Behind the Clock” and “Holy Visions,” with videos directed by Gilbert Trejo. Both tracks show AFI’s knack for experimentation and need to evolve while offering a glimpse into the more introspective themes explored in Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…
